Wi-Fi public wireless LAN has been installed at Bayside Place Hakata, a shopping and entertainment complex in Fukuoka City. Visitors can use smartphones or other hand-held terminals to connect to the Internet for free. Thirty relay stations have been installed in the complex. One objective is the improved use of the complex by overseas tourists in Fukuoka. Wi-Fi is an international standard that allows the use of information terminals from overseas telecommunications companies.
